| | 12/3/2008 - BEST LITTLE WAREHOUSE SUSPECT WANTED | | The Office of Best Little Warehouse, 502 E. Expressway 83, was robbed before noontime, Wednesday, December 3. At about 11:45AM, a Hispanic male entered the business, asking about rental prices of storage units. Almost immediately, the employee had an automatic handgun pointed at his head with the armed male demanding the money. The employee complied, turning over the business`s cash, but the suspect wanted more. The employee gave him the cash in his own wallet. Before the robber fled, he made the employee go to a back room. The employee was not injured.
UPDATE
One man has been arrested in this aggravated robbery. He is Eric Garza, age 26, of Mercedes. He drove the getaway vehicle. The other suspect is Rodolfo Leal, age 37, also of Mercedes.

| | 11/24/2008 - BURGLARY ATTEMPT ON SPEAR DRIVE | | During the daytime, on Monday, November 24, burglars tried to break into a house on Spear Drive, in Weslaco`s Shawnee Village subdivision. The burglary attempt left some damage to the home`s back door. In addition, the sadistic burglars grabbed a pet rabbit from its cage in the backyard and cut off one of its ears. | | 11/23/2008 - BARBEE NEUHAUS BROKEN INTO | | Barbee-Neuhaus, local John Deere dealer, was victimized by burglars on Sunday night, November 23, 2008. Burglars broke a glass window, entered the business, and stole two chainsaws. Police were called and located two Stihl chainsaws outside, by some tractors. Surveillance video showed two males ( one with a shaved head ) enter the building. A red Nissan pickup truck was located in the area and may belong to the burglars. | | 11/22/2008 - ALEGRO FLOWER SHOP BURGLARIZED | | Alegro Flower Shop, located at 118 W. 2nd Street, was hit by burglars on Saturday night, November 22, 2008. The opportunists entered the building through the rear, forced a door to the sales area, and stole the whole cash register. The register, a Canon, contained a small amount of cash for the next business day. | | 11/21/2008 - ATTEMPTED VEHICLE THEFT | | At Texas Visiting Nurse Service, 300 W. 5th Street, a man was seen trying to steal a 2000 Chevrolet Impala, parked at the business. This occurred on Friday, November 21, at about 11:25am. The witness said that the suspect was using some type of instrument, such as a "slim jim," to try to unlock the car. Fortunately, he was scared away. The only description of the thief is that he was wearing a blue shirt. The suspect vehicle is a black sport utility vehicle, possibly a Jeep Cherokee, with paper plates. If you have any information, call Weslaco Crime Stoppers at 968-8477.

| | 11/13/2008 - BURGLARY AT CINDY`S ACADEMY | | Cindy`s Academy, a child day care, located at 1418 W 18th Street, was broken into the night of November 13. Stolen from the business were an RCA DVD/VCR combo and a 15 inch television set. If you have any information, call 968-TIPS.

| | 11/4/2008 - COUNTRY SUNSHINE BURGLARIZED | | Country Sunshine Resort Park, located at 1601 S. Airport Drive, was targeted by burglars last weekend. Sometime during the night of November 1-2, one or more burglars pried open doors to seven mobile homes or trailers at the park. Because all the homes were unoccupied, it is not known for sure what was stolen, but evidence indicated that at least one television set was taken. | | 11/1/2008 - LA PALATERA BURGLARIZED | | During the morning hours of Monday, October 27, someone broke the glass in the business`s front door, entered, broke the glass in the office door, and made off with cash and a DVR. The cash was contained in 2 blue bank bags and the surveillance DVR`s brand was Honeywell. If you have any information about this burglary, call 968-TIPS.

| | 10/28/2008 - RIMS, TIRES, & LUGNUTS | | How would you like to wake up in the morning only to find that your Chevrolet Tahoe had been stripped of its wheels? This is exactly what one vehicle owner found on the morning of October 24. The crime occurred on Ambrosia Drive in Mid Point Estates, in Weslaco`s southwest quadrant. The rims are 20 inches, and the tires are Bridgestone. The loss was set at over $3,000. Weslaco Crime Stoppers would love to pay a reward for information about this felony theft. Call today.

| | 10/28/2008 - Weslaco Bakery Burglarized | During the early morning hours of October 21, someone broke into Weslaco Bakery, 3022 E. Business 83. Were the cookies, empanadas, or biscuits targeted? No, the burglar zeroed in on 3 candy machines. For Halloween "Trick or Treat?" Nope! For the change in the machines. Do you know anyone who was exchanging coins for currency? | | 10/17/2008 - China Garden Burglarized | China Garden, located at 1402 E. Business 83, was burglarized sometime during the night of Wednesday, October 15. Burglars entered through a vent, pried open a cash register, and took cash. If you have any information about this crime, call Weslaco Crime Stoppers at 968-TIPS, or leave a tip on this website. | | 10/15/2008 - House on South Indiana St. Burglarized | | At a residence in the 800 block of S. Indiana St., burglars removed burglar bars from a window, broke that window, and entered the house. Then they proceeded to steal a large number of items, including a china cabinet, washer & dryer, GE range, refrigerator, and air conditioning units. One other distinctive item taken was a large BBQ pit with "Texas Longhorns" on it and the name "Rios." It must have taken several men or hefty women to haul all these items away. Neighbors apparently saw nothing. "See no evil; hear no evil; speak no evil." The burglary occurred between October 7 and 15.

| | 9/19/2008 - BURGLARY ON EAST MANZANILLO ST | | On Friday, Sept. 19, just before noon, a sleeping homeowner, who was not quite ready to wake up, heard a knock at his door. Half asleep, he didn`t go to the door. Instead, he heard a loud bang. Then he DID get up, went into HIS living room, only to see a fat, dark complected man who had no business being there. The intruder ran; the homeowner called the police. The residence, located on Manzanillo Street, in Las Brisas subdivision, was entered, but nothing was taken. It was still a burglary. Police are looking for that fat burglar, his skinny accomplice, both of whom left in a 1999 gold Buick 4-door, which may be from the Pharr area. | | 9/18/2008 - BURGLARY ON ASH STREET | | Thursday, September 18, between 7:30am and 5:30pm - A burglar kicked in an entry door of a residence on Ash St. and stole valuable items. Taken were an HP computer, a radio, "Cyber" DVD player, Kodak digital camera, 2-game consoles, a Ryobi drill, 150-DVD movies. If you have any information, call 968-8477.
